According to Marvel, Disney is about to own Marvel Entertainment pending approval from its shareholders and various regulation approvals.  First Disney bought Pixar and now this?  I don't think this is a good idea.  Were you happy when Adobe purchased Macromedia or when Autodesk bought out the whole freaking 3d content-creation market?  Sure we may get the awesome Jubilee vs. Daffy Duck crossover or a brand spanking 3D rendition of Mr. Sinister by Pixar, but who cares?  If these companies remained separate entities, they would have more production time creating original content instead of working on existing IP's from their sister companies.  Sure, in the short term this won't happen.  However, in the future, I wouldn't be surprised if I see a kiddy version of a Spiderman comic book featuring Spidey's adventures with Mickey Mouse sitting in the store shelve while I'm perusing my local Graham Crackers on Chicago’s Clark Street.  Obviously, Marvel will be able to tap into Disney’s mass distribution channels which my help it pulverize other comic book publishers (in terms of exposure at least).  Here's hoping that DC Comics does not feel pressured to seek a buyer for its properties.
