I don't know about you guys, but this came to me as a surprise.  The movie stars Jim Carrey as the voice of the main character.  Now if you read one of my post a while back, I was complaining about the CG movies not having too much realism.  It looks like I spoke too soon.  This is probably the best of the year as far as characters that look human enough. You may be wondering why it looks like something.  Well, its from the same people that did the Polar Express.  The only difference with A Christmas Carol is that it looks a hell of a lot better and not as freaky looking.  The characters are believable.  They don't look too cartoony, but they also look better than the characters of Beowulf. The environments looks stunning. From the buildings to the trees to the snow. This is one one movie to go watch with the kids.  This movie will be available sometime around this Decemeber. On 09-09-09, the movie 9 came out.  It's about a bunch of little mechanical rag doll-looking characters that roam around a post-war earth where battles between humans and robots resulted in the destruction of humanity.  Shane Acker, the director of the film, created 9 from a short film he made as a UCLA student. Visually, this is probably one of the best looking CG animated feature film I've seen in a while.  It's about time an animated CG feature strayed away from the "plastic" shaders that is overly used by Pixar and DreamWorks.  It's been over 10 years since Toy Story came out and Pixar/DreamWorks are still giving us CG movies that look like those little toys.  Fortunately, the movie 9 has the balls to try something visually new, at least in terms of the mainstream CG feature length films.  If you like Blur Studios’ game cinematics, you'll love the imagery in 9.  Tim Burton's producing role on this film seemed to influence some of the character's and environment’s designs.  Simply put, you can see the "Burton Style" that is seen in Nightmare before Christmas and James and the Giant Peach.  It has dark hues, Goth, simple designs, great detail mixed with old school Disney charms. The plot was good in the beginning of the movie when there's a lot of discovery and suspense.  However, by the end, it was a little dissatisfying as the main character doesn't seem to grow at all.  Throughout the movie, the audience is presented with two main viewpoints on how to live life by either curiosity or fear.  We're supposed to cheer for curiosity, but I thought the character who was supposed to be afraid was simply being cautious.  In the end, some characters learn facts, but what fun is knowledge without "more" friends to share them with?  Still, it's a good watch. Rating: GOODNESS

9 comes out today.  After all those teasers and a great trailer, we finally get the movie. Will the movie be a sleeper hit like that other movie with the same number.  Time will tell.  If the movie is anything like the short, it's gonna rock your socks off.  If you can't watch the movie til the weekend, then watch the  short to calm you down a little.  Have a look at the short below.  You will not be disappointed.

It's coming.   Coming out next year in the holidays, the beloved cartoon is jumping on to the big screen.  Not too much is known about the film, but the film is being animated by a studio in Europe.  Lets see how this translates to 3D world.  Now where is my Thundercats and Voltron.

There is a certain look that the Japanese go for when it comes to their Scifi flicks.  Take this for instance.  Called Assault Girl.  The way the movie looks.  It is pretty washed out and gray.  Does it remind you of something?  It has the same blurry grayish look as Advent Children.  Even the hairstyles look the same.   They never seem to want to make it too real.  In the west they go for realism, in Japan they go for something else.  It does separate them though. When looking at it you can just tell from the style it came from Japan.  Even if there was not actor, I would still be able to tell.  Just take a look at the Assault Girls trailer (2009) and Casshern (2004).  Tell me, do you see what I mean. Nope, more like an interview with the director of Toy Story 3.  Lee Unkrich talks to Collider.com for a little Q&A.  Though no story plot has been revealed, the interview dwells on other things like upcoming toys, blue-rays for Monster's Inc and Toy Story 2.  Watch below for the interview.
