Has anyone noticed the new layout Google has been using in the past few weeks? It seems as though they are currently testing out a new layout. For me the new layout doesn’t come up in all searches, only once in a while. I thought my mind was boggling when I saw the old boring Google home page at work compared to the bright Google home page at my home computer. As you can see from the pictures below, the home page has a brighter Google logo, beveled text input box, and bigger buttons. The source all looks like html web standards CSS with the usual compressed JavaScript. Did the old site’s home page use tables? This new one seems all CSS.
The actual search results page now has a left menu bar. Since Microsoft’s Bing uses this left menu bar, all I can think of is “Google Copied Bing!” When you click on “Images”, the left menu bar should stay, but instead it disappears and we go back to the old layout. Google must know about the importance of UI consistency! The expanding “More/Less” button is pretty nifty and uses a CSS effect which may or may not have been done using JQuery. All in all, it looks pretty good. I especially like how clean the paging links are.
Well as you know they just announced the Ipad. It's basically a much bigger version of an iTouch/iPhone. The only difference is that screen is larger and the processor is different. It's a good version one, but it's still missing something. Don't get me wrong it's a great device, but I'm not getting duped into this again.
Hopefully when they make a version 2 that it'll have at least a webcam and mic. At most I hope it'll have those plus, multitasking, usb port, gps, and SD slot. If I had the money, I'd probably still get this since I'm such a tech junkie.
Here's the pricing for the iPad:
iPad (Wifi Only) - March release
$499 (16 gigs)
$599 (32 gigs)
$699 (64 gigs)
iPad (Wifi w/ 3G) - April release
$629 (16 gigs)
$729 (32 gigs)
$829 (64 gigs)
The 3G will be unlocked, but uses a micro-sim card. It'll be under ATT for the US at $14.99 for (250mb) or $29.99 for unlimited data. (No contracts required)
Here's Apple's promo. Gotta love The Cure music in the background. Visit the iPad site at Apple.com for more information.
Nothing to say, but keep a heads up around 12:00pm CDT since that is the time the show will start. Coverage will be everywhere so you won't be missing a thing.
Well then either you apparently have a lot of money, you have an extra one, or you just totally hate it. I must say, it is a nice little device (no more mechanical drive). Anyways, here's a nice stop-motion video of the PSP Go being taken apart then put back together. Makes me want to start a site dedicated to disassembling electronics.
What will Steve Jobs be announcing today. A new tablet? Will it be a new incarnation of the iphone? Will the iphone not be exclusive to ATT anymore? Will we get a sneak peak at the new iphone OS 4.0 with supposedly mulitasking? Well than make sure to look on the net around 12:00pm CDT for the show.
Today is when becomes the standard for streaming video. They are now offering users the option to view videos that were uploaded in 1080p in 1080p. This is Awesome. Just to let you see, there is a difference in resolution. Just make sure you computer can handle the pixels. Now let's see some examples. Nothing shows off 1080p best like some anime. Don't forget to choose 1080p under the HD tab.
UPDATE: Looks like 1080p tab is currently only available on the YouTube site.
