Yes, after many commericals, months, teaser, whatnots, the movie, Where The Wild Things Are, is finally out in theaters. Now it seems like there are good and bad reviews. There have been rumors of little children who've seen the movie and came out crying. What could it mean. Who knows, but to me it just sound that this movie isn't really made for the youngins. Now let me direct you to two review from Ain't It Cool News. Both with two different opinions of the movie. Check it HERE and HERE .
Head on over to CG Society to view this article for the upcoming Zbrush 3.5. A couple of artists got a chance to use the program during beta. They are describing their thoughts on the new version and how it helped them create models you see in that article. Take a gander. If you're interested in 3D and love to sculpt this program is probably the closest to it. Check out the article here. Find out more about Zbrush 3.5 at Pixologic's site.
Nick Cross created this really cool short. The concepts are great it also seems very nastolic. It has that old Hana Barbera / Warner Brothers feel to it. Nick started working on this short in 2006. He just recently finished it and released directly to the internet. He's already started to bring to festival to get more exposure and recognition that it deserves. Hopefully he can win some awards. You can visit his blog where he speaks of his works at www.pyatyletka.blogspot.com. Now on to the show.
Check out the new version of Cheetah 3D 5.0. It's a very inexpensive 3D program. For those who don't want to spend too much money, but still want to buy software check this program out. It has all the basic tools you need to model, texture, animate, light and so forth. The only drawback is that it's only for the MAC (which could be a good thing like for stability). The plus side is that it's only $149. That's a pretty good price since even Photoshop doesn't even come close to that price. Check them out here at www.cheetah3d.com.
With the recent announcement that Digital Domain was opening up shop in Vancouver, now there is another news that they will open up a studio in Florida. Though the Florida location won't being doing projects for films and movies like the LA or Vancouver locations, they will being doing other fields of 3d like gaming, animation, and military simulations.
What I don't get is why didn't they choose the midwest. There's a lot of land to be had around. why is it always has be somewhere on the coastline. We have a coastline from the lakes. Oh well at least they're creating more jobs to help our economy. Kudos to Digital Domain. Check out their reel if you're not familiar with them.
Sony did something really out there. First it was the bouncing balls in San Fransico, then it was the synchronized paint on the building now this. Don't know if this is real, but it seems real enough. A town in Iceland was succumbed to Sony's little ad. They placed speakers around town and played music for a whole week. I don't know if it sounded as loud as it seemed in the video, but I sure would have been irritated after a day. Even so, if that was in the US, I'd probably just grab those speakers, and use them for my own personal use (Home theater!). It would have been cool if they played some Bjork or ABBA in there. Anyway's check out the video.
