I don’t know what happened to me. I’ve haven’t wrote on this blog in a while. So did anyone watch the trailer for the new Transformers while watching the super bowl? Well I was and I didn’t even noticed that this trailer. Maybe I didn’t care for the commercials because they were just not good. It seems a lot of these advertisers are just paying big bucks just the get on the spot and don’t support it with some great witty commercials. Super Bowl used to be not only about the game itself, but it was also about the commercials. Many non-sports fans watched only for the commercials, but this year it just wasn’t up to par.
Enough of that ramble, what I was trying to get at was the short teaser for Transformers 3. Can anybody say whoo hoo. More destruction and action. Surprised how quickly they got Chicago to look so damaged and have the autobots looking and moving great. Considering the film was just filmed last summer, kudos to the hard working artists for a great job. I’m sure the footage isn’t final, but man if those the last scenes, Chicago is going to be annialated to a pulp.
Oh yeah, anyone noticed how a lot of these trailers are doing the single beat thing and timing the video with it. I don’t know about you, but I believe Inception (I could be wrong) started this whole craze with trailers doing this to create some sort of mood, almost like a climax til the title is shown. It’s almost like a trend. Anyways, if you haven’t seen the new teaser trailer for Transformers 3 check it out below:
This teaser has been out (not officially) since last year’s comic con. Now they have an HD version. Nothing total different here except the name of the movie. It used to be TR2N with the” 2″ in place of the “O”. Now it’s called Tron Legacy which in my opinoin doesn’t fit very well. There’s only been 1 Tron movie. This teaser is still nice to watch in glorified HD. From looking at the teaser, that whole bike sequence looked like it was all CG including the humans. I could be wrong. What do you think. The movie comes out next year in 3D which I guess is the norm for anything that has CG in it Here’s the original for those that don’t remember.
The trailer for the movie Ninja Assassin has finally been revealed. The trailer looks pretty good. It’s very dark, alot of fight sequences and Rain has dialog. He is the lead character named Raizo. If you don’t know Rain, he is a Korean superstar who is a singer, CF model and now actor. A pretty well known star in Asia. He made his American debut in Speed Racer with minimal dialog. Ninja Assassin also stars Naomie Harris, Ben Miles, Sho Kosugi and Rick Yune. The movie is out November 25, 2009, yep 2009 not 2010. As stated earlier, this is not a live action Ninja Scroll for the fact it takes place in present time and as well as Warner Brothers plan to make the real Ninja Scroll with the original production house (Madhouse) who created the anime. The film is directed by James McTeigue of V for Vendetta and produced by Joel Silver and Wachowski brothers (well the Wachowskis now).
From the creators of “Howl’s Moving Castle” and “Spirited Away”, Hayao Miyazaki, comes a new tale called “Ponyo”. Released last year in Japan as “Ponyo On the Cliff By The Sea” which is Miyazaki’s version of the “The Little Mermaid”.
As the story goes, a girl fish is washed up ashore and a little boy named Sosuke helps and becomes attached to her. He happily names her Ponyo and Sosuke brings her to school in a bucket to show his friends. Meanwhile, Ponyo’s father (Fujimoto) is outraged and starts looking for her. He finds her and takes her back to the sea with Sosuke saddened. While back in the sea, Ponyo and her father are having fallout and escapes from the sea to land. In the process she uses her father’s magic to make herself into a human. This is where Sosuke and Ponyo’s adventure begins…
Being that this movie is published, not produced by Disney, there will be some translations lost or altered to fit the American audience. Hopefully, they don’t butcher it too much. When you look at the Japanese (above) and the American trailers you can total see a difference in tone. I’m hoping the American version will have the theme song (at least in melody form).
Ponyo will be out in U.S. theaters on August 14, 2009. Don’t forget to check out Miyazaki’s other works of art as well.
Galactic Mail shows what really goes on in the minds of those delivery people. Created by Astrokid, this short animation is about a package that needs to be delivered. The competition is so great that not one can hold the package for too long. Check the video above.
When I first saw this trailer, I knew I remembered the kid with his monster costume. Then I remembered this book when I was in elementary. This is a live action adaptation of the book by Maurice Sendak called “Where The Wild Things Are.” This trailer was very refreshing. None of that epic stuff that seems to be the norm for every freakin fantasy/kid movie. What’s up with that. This one is just plain fun. Just like the book.
I hope the movie has a soundtrack like what they used for the trailer. It different and gives it a little of that indie feel to it. A little known fact. Disney had a test with this story, it was to be the first to use 3D background on 2D characters. It was done fairly well. John Lassater was involved. Later, it was scrapped though. Check it out. It was really good for it’s time ( early ’80s).
